Gina's Little Gems is a family child care center. We received our
state license in November of 2007. We offer a comfortable smoke free home setting, competitive rates, small mixed age group (allows siblings to remain together), nutritious home cooked meals and an integrated preschool program with educational and creative activities. I have an associates degree in Child Care, CPR Certification and have training in First Aid, SIDS, Shaken Baby Prevention and Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards. I've been in the child care field for over 20 years and I‘m a Mom of two wonderful children too!
Children LEARN best through their daily PLAY! The playroom is set up with learning areas to stimulate your child's creativity, curiosity and learning. We have a dramatic play area with a play kitchen, dress-up clothing, baby dolls and a doll house. Construction area with blocks, dinosaurs, trains and cars. We also have a music and movement area with a stereo and instruments so they can dance and sing along. This room also includes a play area for infants and toddlers. The front porch is set up for more quite activities. It has a library with books, flannel board pieces to tell stories, puppets, computer, science area and a math area.
In the kitchen we serve a breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. We are part of the Federal Child & Adult Food Program. Health and safety standards, training, and monitoring make CACFP an important component of my quality child care program. The kitchen also has an art area with crayons, markers, colored pencils, paper, glue and play-dough. The gems can also explore in the sensory table.
The fun continues outside too! The huge fenced in playground has climbers, slides, a playhouse and a swing set. We have retractable fences that closes off the driveway area so the little gems can ride bikes, color with chalk and play in the sandbox. The garage has an attached porch. It has a basketball hoop, Lego table and other building toys. The children also enjoy walking to the park a block away to play on the equipment and race around the ball diamond.
Gina's Little Gems has a daily schedule. Children thrive on knowing what comes next in their day. It provides time for both structured and unstructured activities where the children can learn from each other. We have a daily group time where we learn about our weekly theme, read stories, sing songs and learn our letters, shapes, colors and numbers. We also try to complete a daily art project.

A couple years ago we added a toy poodle to our family. We got Scrappy-Doo because he is a hypoallergenic breed. He was been
raised around the children and is a very well behaved dog.
All the little gems love him.
